L’Institut national d'histoire de l'art s'associe avec la Terra Foundation for American Art pour attribuer une bourse postdoctorale qui s'accompagne d'un accueil d'un an à l'INHA et d'une bourse de voyage.

Le lauréat aura pour mission de produire une recherche inédite sur l'art des États-Unis avant 1980 donnant lieu à la publication d’un article dans l’année suivant le terme de la bourse (les missions de la Terra n'incluent pas les questions architecturales). Dans le cadre du voyage d’études effectué par le lauréat, l’INHA veillera à promouvoir la diffusion de la recherche du lauréat aux États-Unis.

Conditions d’accueil :

• Le lauréat sera accueilli à l'INHA et disposera des moyens de travail de l'institut et de sa bibliothèque du 1er septembre 2019 au 31 août 2020
• La couverture santé, le coût du visa, le logement en France sont à la charge du/de la lauréat/e
• Le financement comprend une bourse annuelle, équivalent euros, de 26 000 $US en et 8 500 $US pour financer la recherche et les voyages

Processus de sélection et date de clôture des candidatures :

Composition du dossier de candidature :

• CV
• projet de recherche (5000 signes),
• programme de voyage,
• rapport de thèse (pour les candidats ayant soutenu leur thèse en France )
• lettre de recommandation concernant le projet de recherche postdoc
  ou
• deux lettres de recommandation concernant la thèse et le projet postdoc (pour les candidats  ayant soutenu leur thèse à l'étranger)

Conditions de candidature :

• Détenir un doctorat au moment de la soumission du dossier.
• Avoir soutenu sa thèse dans une université francophone (en français ou en anglais) depuis moins de 5 ans à la date limite de candidature
• Le sujet de la thèse doit porter, en totalité ou partiellement, sur l’histoire de l’art des États-Unis avant 1980.
• Les candidatures remplissant les trois premières conditions sont admissibles au concours. Les candidats de toutes nationalités sont éligibles, hormis les citoyens américains.
• La bourse n'est pas compatible avec un autre financement et ne peut être attribuée qu'à des docteurs sans rattachement institutionnel titulaire. Le recrutement sur un poste de maître de conférences ou à un concours de la fonction publique n'est pas compatible avec l'acceptation de la bourse.

Procédure de sélection :

Le lauréat sera choisi par un jury constitué du directeur général de l’INHA, du directeur du département des études et de la recherche, du directeur du département de la bibliothèque et de la documentation, d’un conseiller scientifique et d’un expert en histoire de l’art américain.

Publication des résultats :

Les résultats de l’appel seront annoncés au mois de mai 2019.

Terra Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellowship on American Art at the Institut national d’histoire de l’art

September 1, 2019–August 31, 2020

The Institut national d’histoire de l’art has partnered with the Terra Foundation for American Art to offer a one-year postdoctoral residential fellowship at the INHA. In addition, the fellow will benefit from a travel allowance.   

The recipient’s objective will be to perform original research on the art of the United States prior to 1980 in view of publishing an article in the year following the end of the fellowship. Please note that the Terra Foundation’s mission does not include architecture. Within the framework of the recipient’s research trip, the INHA will encourage the dissemination of the recipient’s research in the United States.

Grant terms:

• The fellow will be welcomed at the INHA and have access to the institute’s facilities and library from September 1, 2019 to August 31, 2020
• Health insurance, visa costs, and housing in France are the fellow’s responsibility
• Funding, paid in euros, includes an annual grant worth 26,000 USD and a travel allowance worth 8,500 USD

• Letter of recommendation concerning the postdoctoral research proposal

• Two letters of recommendation concerning the thesis and the postdoctoral research proposal (for candidates who defended their thesis outside France)

Eligibility:

• The candidate should hold a PhD at the time of application
• The candidate should have successfully defended his or her thesis (in French or English) in a Francophone university less than 5 years prior to the application deadline
• The thesis subject must focus, totally or partially, on the history of art of the United States before 1980
• All nationalities, with the exception of the United States are eligible to apply.
• The grant may not be combined with other funding and can only be attributed to a PhD without institutional affiliation. The grant should not be accepted if recruitment for a lecturer position or public sector appointment is ongoing.

Selection process:

The recipient will be chosen by a jury consisting of the Director General of the INHA, the Director of the Studies and Research Department, the Director of the Library and Documentation Department, a scientific advisor, and an expert of American art history. 

Results announcement:

The award will be announced in May 2019.
