Irina Genova est professeur en histoire et théorie des arts. Ses publications principales portent sur l’art moderne et la modernité. Parmi ses écrits sont les livres: Modernismes et modernité - (Im) Possibility for Historicising (2004), Tempus fugit. On Contemporary Art and the Visual Image (2007) et Modern Art in Bulgaria: First Histories and Present Narratives beyond the Paradigm of Modernity (2013). Elle a été boursière de la Fondation Paul Getty (1994, 1998), New Europe College, Bucarest (2004), Institut national d'histoire de l'art à Paris (2005), Centre for Advanced Study, Sofia (2016-2017), Campus France - projet, réalisé à l'Institut national d'histoire de l'art à Paris (2019).
