Patricia Zalamea est titulaire d'une licence en histoire de l'art (1997) de l'université John Cabot en Italie et d'une maîtrise et d'un doctorat en histoire de l'art de l'université Rutgers (2007). Elle est professeur associé d'histoire de l'art à l'Universidad de los Andes à Bogota, en Colombie, où elle a été doyenne de l'école des arts et des sciences humaines entre 2015 et 2021. Outre le développement du premier programme de premier cycle en histoire de l'art en Colombie (2010), elle est l'une des fondatrices et membres du conseil d'administration du chapitre colombien (CCHA) du Comité international d'histoire de l'art (CIHA), ainsi qu'une défenseuse des politiques publiques sur le patrimoine culturel, les humanités expérimentales et la place des arts libéraux dans l'enseignement supérieur latino-américain. La participation au programme Getty Unfolding Art History in Latin America (2012-2014) et à des projets tels que Spolia Sancta, en collaboration avec l'Universidad Autónoma de Madrid avec des fonds du gouvernement espagnol (2019-2021), lui a permis de favoriser des connexions régionales et internationales innovantes. Membre actif de divers réseaux académiques et comités de rédaction, elle continue de faire avancer le développement du domaine de l'histoire de l'art en Amérique latine en faisant partie du comité directeur de l'Académie transrégionale sur l'art latino-américain du Deutsches Forum für Kunstgeschichte (2019-2022). Ses domaines d'étude comprennent l'art colonial latino-américain, l'art de la Renaissance mondiale, la réception des classiques dans un contexte colonial, l'histoire de l'estampe et le portrait.

Patricia Zalamea has a BA in art history (1997) from John Cabot University in Italy and an MA and PhD in art history from Rutgers University (2007). She is Associate Professor of Art History at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, where she was the Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities between 2015 and 2021. In addition to developing the first art history undergraduate program in Colombia (2010), she is one of the founders and board members of the Colombian Chapter (CCHA) of the Comité International d’Histoire de l’Art (CIHA), as well as an advocate for public policies on cultural heritage, experimental humanities and the place of liberal arts in Latin American higher education. Participation in the Getty program Unfolding Art History in Latin America (2012-2014) and in projects such as Spolia Sancta, in conjunction with the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid with funds from the Spanish Government (2019-2021), allowed her to foster innovative regional and international connections. An active member of diverse academic networks and editorial boards, she continues to advance the development of the field of art history in Latin America as part of the steering committee of the Transregional Academy on Latin American Art of the Deutsches Forum für Kunstgeschichte (2019-2022).Her fields of study include Colonial Latin American art, Global Renaissance art, the reception of Classics in a Colonial context, history of the print, and portraiture.
