About the residency

The INHA offers residencies for art history researchers who have earned a Ph.D. or higher.
This program is reserved exclusively for researchers who already receive financial support. The INHA does not provide funding or workspace within its offices. However, visiting researchers will have access to the INHA library and will be invited to all seminars organized by the institute as well as by the Department of Studies and Research.

Who can apply ?

This residency is open to researchers in art history, regardless of nationality, who hold at least a Ph.D.
Applicants must have external funding, as the INHA will not provide any.

Application file

The application package must include:

  • A cover letter
  • A resume
  • A description of the proposed research project, specifying the planned dates and duration of the stay (1 page)
  • A letter of recommendation from a prominent figure in art history (a member of a university or cultural institution)

Applications must be submitted via the online platform HERE.

After submitting an application online, applicants must write to the Department of Studies and Research to confirm that their application has been submitted.

The call for applications is open year-round; an evaluation committee will meet three times a year, in September, January, and May. Applicants are therefore advised to plan ahead sufficiently, taking into account the deadlines and their desired arrival dates.
